travellers on "[Plugin: Woocommerce] editing woocommerce dummy_data xml file"

I've looked at the 'import suites' for woocommerce but I literally can't afford the hundred dollars they want for that. My time's cheap though so I'm prepared to do it myself but would rather not manually sit and list a hundred products so I thought I'd look at the dummy_data xml file and just edit that to trial changing their dummy products for my real ones. But I can't work out how to open that file in a way that will allow me to see columnar data for various fields. I'm using OpenOffice Calc and have tried all the import options but can't manage to make it show in any sensible fashion.
I know the dummy_data file works, but how can I open it such that I can see where I need to edit?
