I think the plugin isn't laid out clearly. You need tobgo to Tools > Import Events to export events into a CSV file and not Tools > Export :/
WordPress supports exports of CPTs into XML format but this doesn't include all event data. The plugin doesn't integrate with WP's exporter and does generate a CSV file :-)
