Thank you for your help but I could not fix the problem.
I have 15 sites 10 of which are still on WP 3.6 and those rss feeds work perfectly fine.
the remaining five are on 3.7.1 or 3.8, and none work.
I removed all plugins and with all removed the feed does not work.
there are no blank lines that I can find in any of the above mentioned files.
Is there a plugin that I can install that will give me the RSS ability?
