The guy that used to host my site decided he did not want to continue to do so when he switched services, so he gave me access to my domain so I could host it myself somewhere else. He uploaded all of my files to dropbox for me so I could move it over to bluehost. However, I don’t see any WXR/XML files that appear to be what I need to easily and quickly upload the info to the new site.
My “old” site, on the domain where it used to be hosted, is long gone. I thought I had everything I needed with these files, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.
Is there another way I can get the necessary WXR file, or is there another way to upload the necessary files individually? I’ve found a few that are xml extensions, but the uploader gives me this error message:
Sorry, there has been an error.
This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number,
so clearly they’re not the correct files.
It probably goes without saying that I have no idea what I’m doing here – this is my first time trying to do something like this myself, and I haven’t found any articles or forum posts that might shed some light on this particular issue, since I no longer have access to the original hosted site.
Can anyone help a poor lost soul out?
