Hello, I want to import my old wordpress.com blog into the blog page/section of my new wordpress.org website. I've created the website already, with pages and subpages and galleries (I'm a photographer), and asked my hosting provider to import the old wordpress.com blog, a service they offer for free.
However they've told me this is impossible, it can't be imported into a subfolder like mywebsite.com/blog but can only be imported into a new wordpress install or otherwise overwrite all other data.
Is there really no process or plugin that will allow me to do this? I've searched these forums and I've got the impression that importing xml files will not automatically overwrite existing posts etc - can anyone clarify this seemingly contradictory information?
