In the documentation you're saying "To map the elements from an XML file, open up an importer which has the Template Type set to XML"
But the importer has 4 options and none of them is XML, so unless the option is invisible, i haven't seen it there.
The popular wordpress importer has a reason to be popular, it's simple and straight to the point, you don't need documentation and 3 pages to import XML data...
